How to apply
To get a job in Korea, you need to first get the necessary documents for a teaching visa. The most important two documents are an apostilled national level criminal background check, and an apostilled copy of your Bachelors degree.
Criminal Check
This needs to be done at a national level, so for example US citizens need an FBI check. UK citizens should get a subject access check. The time this takes varies from country to country, with the US FBI check taking up to 2 months. If you are planning to come to Korea you should apply for your criminal check today as this is the longest part of the application process.
Bachelors degree
This can be in any discipline and needs to be copied by a lawyer, the copy then needs to be apostilled.
Apostille
This is basically a notice from the government saying that your document is real. It is necessary to stop people from using fake degrees from fake universities to get jobs. Both your criminal check and your copy of your degree need an apostille, so you should do both at the same time. To get an apostille from the UK, visit the FCO website and follow their instructions.
Application to SEV
1. Send your resume and a cover letter stating when you should be able to start and your progress on obtaining the aforementioned documents to [email protected]
2. Phone interview
3. If you are in Korea then you should attend a final interview with the school director. If you are outside of Korea (or live on the opposite side of Korea) then you should make a short video self introduction, this can easily be done on youtube then send the link in an email.
4. If you are successful, we will ask you to send the relevant documents to get your visa code.
5. Once we receive your visa code, we will email this to you, you then should take thiis along with your passport and some other documents in order to get your visa.
6. Once you have obtained your visa, you are ready to come to Korea.
